Welcome to Evertil.com

Where all the pieces of the puzzle come together or just hang out loosely ... you may have noticed "zoomshare" in the address you've been taken to, even though you're certain you typed or clicked on "www.evertil.com".  My domain, which is http://www.evertil.com/, has forwarded you to this server (zoomshare) and there is nothing to worry about.

BTW, were you looking for Charlie Foege?  I was also known as Chuck Phony and more recently as Chase Flaney. My author pseudonym is C.J. Faege  --  there are few secrets on evertil.com and anything could happen here at any given time ...

1967-69: Played folk music along with my own music in Gaslight Square, St. Louis, MO.  Also played on downtown street corners; bass for a 9 piece soul band called THE ENTERTAINERS, THE PHANTOM FOUR, THE ACOUSTICS, THE DEVASTATORS, STEVE & THE SHUTDOWNS; drums in THE X-CELLS as I learned the technique of synchronizing three tape recorders to produce pseudo multi-channel recordings. In 1967 formed THE BEASTLY CONSPIRATORS OF SUCH, playing guitar, oil drums and "prepared" tape recorder. Bandmembers included Kent Baue, Jim Smitt & Kent Rader

Formed THE JOINT SESSION, a 3 piece group which was my first to exclusively feature my original music, save for my "acid rock/psychedelic" renderings of pop tunes. In 1968 I joined a popular St. Louis group;

THE OFFSHORE MOVEMENT; and by June 1969, OFFSHORE MOVEMENT were performing three hour sets of my music in St. Louis and surrounding area clubs (The Castaways, Electric Circus, Rainy Daze, etc.). The group opened for a number of major concert bands, including Muddy Waters, The Flock, Rotary Connection, Albert King, Illinois Speed Press, John Lee Hooker, et al; and received support from St. Louis radio stations KSHE and KADI - and had an enthusiastic following.

A few Offshore Movement recordings from 1968 (6 piece group) & 1969 (4 piece):

1970-79: Formed CHUCK PHONY with drummer from Offshore Movement and members of THE ACID SET. I also continued to play acoustic guitar and harmonica in college coffeehouses.

Image

In late 1971 briefly joined with San Francisco's IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAYs' Linda LaFlamme as their harmonica player in TITUS' MOTHER. Joined a prototype PAVLOV'S DOG and left before they signed with Columbia Records. In 1974 began teaching myself keyboards on a upright French grand piano, Elka string machine and Mini-Moog. This was in addition to my experience on a Silvertone chord organ (hold down the loud oohs and applause. please). Made tape "OF THIS URTH" and used the group name PLANET URTH, played keyboards, guitar and vocals, with some friends helping on a few tracks. I received response by mail from BILL BRUFORD (drummer for YES, KING CRIMSON) to a tape I sent him. He evaluated the music thoroughly, all the while urging me to persevere. It really did help!

1980-84: Began working with THE AMERICAN WAY (with Elf/BLACK SABBATH/Richie Blackmore drummer). In October joined THE Z BROTHERS. Recorded first album of my music titled

"HUG THE WIND".  Became associated with Star Marie, managing editor of CONCERT SCENE MAGAZINE. She 4contacted several record companies in my behalf. I wrote articles and reviews for CONCERT SCENE and also for STAGE PASS. Also played in another PLANET URTH. Did work for Clayton Studios in St. Louis, recording for radio & TV commercials. In 1984 joined with band FULL HOUSE, coming soon to a Six Flags Ramada Inn near you twenty years ago.

1985-89: In April 1985 joined THE AGENTS. Played various clubs in Laclede's Landing, St. Louis. After they broke up, I formed HOI POLLOI, added digital sequence recording plus rack of digital synthesizers to existing equipment. HOI POLLOI disbanded (read about it in Gigs From Hell above left link). I immediately joined St. Louis' FANFARE as their guitarist (& had a lot less equipment to haul and assemble/disassemble). Yamaha's AFTERTOUCH MAGAZINE published two of my programs for Yamaha DX7 synthesizer and my subsequent articles on modulation controlled velocity, et al.

 Image

Recorded commercials for RALSTON PURINA as I continued to master the possibilities of credit cards. Left FANFARE, played with old friend Bob Bosch and took temporary job as sound technician for NETWORK.

Image
KEYBOARD MAGAZINE ran a feature article in their November 1988 issue, opened several interesting doors and made some international friends as result.  Began construction of my recording studio.

1990-92: Completed URTH STUDIO (the nicest room in the house). Began work on CD of my music, performing all parts, produced, mixed, mastered, titled, "THE PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY". Recorded for McDONNELL-DOUGLAS' (now Boeing) COMPUTER ANIMATION/MOTION PICTURE DEPT.

1991 article in the St.Louis POST-DISPATCH.

Received more letters of encouragement from BILL BRUFORD and also KATE BUSH. Completed "IMAGINARY THEMES FOR GUITAR & KEYBOARD".  Performed as solo act at Patricks, St. Louis.

1993: Guest appearance/performances on a cable video call-in show. The show's producer had contacted me after he purchased my "PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY" CD. Rearranged "IMAGINARY THEMES FOR GUITAR & KEYBOARD" into "DIARY OF DREAMS". Completed another CD prototype titled "ACCIDENTS"  (alternative/pop/rock) and several videos from each of the CD's. The torrid tempos of "ACCIDENTS" were written to be polar opposites to the mostly soothing, somewhat healing nature of Imaginary Themes. Sold keyboard samples for the Ensoniq EPS to RUBBER CHICKEN SOFTWARE.

 Image
If you would like a compact disc of Accidents, please email for further info or PayPal $8.99 to: urthstudio@sbcglobal.net

1994: Signed contract with worlds largest sound effects company, SOUND IDEAS, in Ontario, Canada. Composed 10 themes (50 tracks) of music in the "Romantic/Pastoral" style for their music production library for use in film, TV and radio industry for their clients located on every continent. Manufactured limited CD editions of "CHARLIE FAEGE & THE OFFSHORE MOVEMENT THE EARLY RECORDINGS, VOL. I", "DIARY OF DREAMS", "RELICS" and "ACCIDENTS".

1995: Released "ACCIDENTS" and "IMAGINARY THEMES, VOL. I" . IMAGINARY THEMES received airplay from St. Louis Radio Stations KDHX -FM, KCLC-FM and Classic 99 (KFUO) FM, Saint Louis . Completed "FORBIDDEN & ACCEPTABLE THEMES" CD. Sales on "Imaginary Themes" made next project possible. Also completed first novel, "Evertil Infinate".

1996-97: Released "IMAGINARY THEMES, VOL. I & II", a two disc CD set. Guitar Performance CD for sampling from titled "MUST BE PRESENT TO ATTEND", "TRANCES" , "STRANGE POPPIES", ORCHESCAPES" and "ASPECTS of URTH" were also completed. I also was able to save a lot of money by switching insurance companies... (just seeing if anyone's paying attention)

1998-2005:  I haven't bothered documenting these years for this bio as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) started working on me, even though I wasn't fully aware of what was going on until 2001. Please see "Links" above left for information on MS. Released "Imaginary Themes, Volumes 1, 2 & 3" and several more books. Currently, there are a total of 41 CDs of Charlie Faege original music and recordings on Push & Pull Digital Records. I am still recording and getting around with a cane because it looks so cool.

If you would like to purchase the three compact disc set of Imaginary Themes direct from the artist, please email for further info or PayPal $14.99 to: urthstudio@sbcglobal.net

2006: Writing, assembling, re-mastering, recording, performing, compiling and segueing tracks for new double CD for fall release. The tracks dwell in pop rock, progressive rock, folk and spoken word genres. Also working on an album of original music in the style of folk music on acoustic instruments including harp, steel and nylon string guitar, 20-string harpguitar, mandolin, 4-5 and 6 string banjos, sitar, tanpura, tabla, Chinese Gu zheng, harmonica and fretless bass guitar. I will update here when things are ready to go. Having multiple sclerosis makes schedules nearly impossible and I don't want to push any envelopes -- I only want to lick them. There are also times when one must certainly need to stamp envelopes too.

 ***** 5 star review by Jay N'Finate

Not An Imaginary Epic The title Imaginary Themes really says it all. The 64 tracks span so many genres yet defies them at the same time. Those that are not included are places I don't care to go to anyway, so there is nothing in the way of wasted tracks.  It has some of the most beautiful and exotic melodies and takes me to places where I can be both freed of lyrical diatribe or trendy fluff. The instrumentation is vast, the performances are compassionate -- all by one performer. That floors me. The two vocal tracks are sung so well, I'd like to hear more from this guy --- please. This is a great album, I give it my highest rating and I keep it close in my iPod at all times.

Harpguitars

I have two new Cafeshops, Harpguitars and Guitars. Both are dedicated to my dear harpguitars, which are featured on tons of products, such as mugs, t-shirts and even poster prints. Don't forget to check the front and back views of the t-shirts (One thing I especially like is that I can easily tell the front from the back when putting one of the harpguitar t-shirts with the front and back views of the 1908 Gibson Harpguitar respectively on each side). There are nearly one hundred years between manufacturing dates on my harpguitars and both are striking to behold, to listen to and a joy to play. The 1908 Gibson has ten subbass strings plus six guitar strings across the neck; while the 2003 20 String Push & Pull Custom Harpguitar has six subbass strings, six strings across the neck plus eight treble strings above the six strings.

Excerpts from the BiGGer Half (c) 2008:

If you write like a thinker you will eventually think like a writer.

When poetry becomes a lost art, art becomes a lost poem… writer wrong, we may never know … one can only hope to be remembered by one's own reputation and that it was for the good one has done to have a reputation at all.

Newsflash?

On an intermission during a Stew Bum concert last night, Stew Bum was making his way through a crowd when he noticed a man wearing what he called an unauthorized Stew Bum Live in Concert t-shirt. Bum pounded the fan to a pulp and picked up a 20 dollar bill that fell from the mans pocket while getting beaten. Bum told the man, Thats what you get and thats how much you owe me for the bootleg shirt. Mr. Bum was arrested immediately after the concert and lost his shirt in court.

Out of the weltering smelting heat of July 2006 comes another book ...

100 Artistic Markings of C.J. Faege

Image

This is a look at some of my sketches and cartoon styled artwork from the early sixties to the present. It was always a secret desire of mine to be involved with cartoons, either in film, including voiceover work or the Funday Sunnies. Throw away the rest of that newspaper, give me the comics section first. My father was an artist, but he always painted scenery. I've always been into making faces. My mom told not to make faces or mine would probably freeze that way. Well, it did.

C.J. Faege - July 2006

This is a large-size picture of a rather creepy sort of alien-fish-man thing. He is just so funky looking, it is almost compelling to stare. A few more typical examples of my sketches and artwork are below.Image

Another Book Release:  April 2006

As long as you have the type of brain that can understand the title of my newest book, you should enjoy the rest of it. For the rest of you linear thinkers, a hint; pronounce the "a" with a small vowel sound. There are at least some pictures in it to look at, so remember, don't give up hope...

Write Out Loud, a few words about "Never Give A Pope " by C.J. Faege (click title for more info or to purchase)

The thoughts, musings, meanderings, puns, stories - even the Goodge and Badge Oaks contained in this collection have been dredged from my mind. Any resemblance to any other persons pre-existing jokes, stories or thoughts are purely coincidental and unintentional. I can only assume, deem and claim anything as being original when I dream it up myself, yet the ever-present rhetoric drone of the television can subliminally and criminally influence language and culture instantly, and much of that is what so much of this concerns. Groups of words are transitional viruses, which carry with them the messages contained within stories and thoughts that are more powerful than any illness that I know of. When there are changes in language, I have to find out who started using it. Then its nice to know when and why it was done, perhaps even the intended meaning (always optional). Sometimes it is quite helpful to go along with these changes in order to communicate with, say, the guy who robs you at gunpoint and you dont know what he has just asked of you. It will be difficult to comply with what may have been a request without knowing the bib on the gig (Unless you just want to be some dumb palooka that doesnt know any better).I have either spoken or written out loud much of the following in late 2005 through early 2006 and will never give up hope that it will amuse you.

A few excerpts from Never Give A Pope:

The man rubbed his baldpate while he looked at the check, knowing it was his gain and hair loss.

The old sewer dwelling man came to a junction in the narrow pipes ahead and had to make a choice between several alphabetized openings, Hmm, lets see, tube E, or not tube E”…

The ravaged raven was enraged as he raced down the ravine.

A Sympathet Tickly Griped Ream (click the preceding title) by C.J. Faege
Genre: Humor & Comedy -Paperback: 76 pages  -  $11.50  The book is available at CafePress.com.

Synopsis:

I'm not out of my head, these words are. They are not opinions. These are accurate reflections of the way things really are, as I see them, so you know they are solid facts. I hope you can see the difference. Thus far, everyone else has been lying to you and you have finally reached the truth. ---- perhaps the previous statements were true, perhaps half-true. Perhaps they are a combination of reality and complete delusion, but one thing is for sure; they are part of this book. If you can read, this book might make you smarter, if not, you can at least look at the pictures or enjoy the smell of the paper while it still has that new book smell...

What does the title mean? Glad you asked. I think it could mean the author sympathizes and tries to tickle you while griping about everything in a ream of paper... it might mean that, but could mean something else, I'm just second-guessing here.

IMAGINARY THEMES VOLUME TWO

Following is the cover for all three volumes of Imaginary Themes in one box set.

ImageEach of the 64 tracks on Imaginary Themes is owing to spiritually significant segments of my lifetime. Spiritual love, spiritual sadness. Great joy and exhilaration on Saturday morning and a bitter realization of mortality may arrive unexpectedly on a Tuesday. I find that my mind also demands that I attach music for these feelings, for without them there would be no reason inside of me to search for a sound for them. Thus this music might only have been imagined but never realized were it not for romantic sentiments and the need to express those moments. The moments become a living feeling and are born as music. Hope you like my kids.

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This is a wonderful set of 3 cds that is a must for all you music lovers out there. It is rich in beautiful soundscapes, and is great for relaxing to. What makes it all the more amazing, is that Charlie plays every single instrument on these cds (except sax). I suppose you could say that it is in the New Age style, but it really goes beyond that. This is not elevator music, or music that bores you to sleep. Every track on here tells it's own little story instrumentally, and there is such variety between the tracks. Some are even helped along by sound effects that really liven things up. "URTHERAPY" for example (cd 1 track 21) would be right at home in Jurassic Park, while others have a very exotic Eastern flavour to them. Some tracks will make you smile, and some will put you in an introspective mood. But all will delight the senses, guaranteed! This is beautiful music, and should be in everyone's collection.

A few more comments from a few of my heroes ...................... "I really like your album! It's great music to work to. Have you ever thought about doing film scores?" CAL SCHENKEL, ARTIST FOR MOST OF FRANK ZAPPA'S ALBUM COVERS, MARCH 2002........
"From one musical explorer to another - this really is some great music." ESSRA MOHAWK, singer, musician, songwriter recorded by & worked with Vanilla Fudge, the Shangri-Las, Procol Harum, Cyndi Lauper, John Mellencamp, Jerry Garcia, was a member of the Mothers of Invention, et al......"I liked the wide variety of instruments and orchestrations. Some fine lyrics, too." BILL BRUFORD - DRUMMER/PERCUSSIONIST OF YES..................... "I truly enjoyed hearing your music." - KATE BUSH ..............."I enjoyed the music. This work shows a lot of personality and emotion and there is some great music on the Imaginary Themes 3-CD set. Truly a man of many talents. I at first enjoyed the graphics and then the tremendous variety of music images." JOHN DOAN - World renowned Harpguitarist and recording artist with Hearts of Space Records................"Never mind the production/instrumentation; that's more than adequate. These songs are very convincing." BILL BRUFORD - DRUMMER/PERCUSSIONIST OF YES.................... "I got (Imaginary Themes Vol 1-3) in my CD player the other dayJ I think your music is very “moody”…you got a sort of sad tone in it. (I like that).  Tomas Bodin, fantastic keyboardist from The Flower Kings, Karmakanic and many other progressive rock groups".

Synopsis:

This is a fantasy/fiction story of a character named Evertil Infinate, whose amazing story begins when he leaves Number 48 City to find a way to Alwayston, as he encounters many obstacles like powerful wizards, Simbats and nightmarish creations like that of Juan and Reginald, the skull with two faces. The accidental hero Evertil tells his own love story as it happens. The pathos, plausible irony and humorously subtle connections to life anywhere between the 20th-25th centuries are scattered like seasoning throughout the story. There is really not a book quite like this one that I've read, unless you could take a smidgen of Alice In Wonderland, a Star Wars dollop or a Catcher In The Rye snippet; then completely forget about those smidgens, dollops and snippets only to find that this is something completely different and dripping in imagination. 21 Chapters, 150 pages, illustrations, 7.50" X 9.25" paperback from The URTH Press.

Thanks for coming by. Oddly enough, I actually do have webbed toes, a.k.a. the twins.  Were I to ever have them surgically separated, one might have to die and the remaining toe would have to try to live with survivor's guilt for the rest of its life. How could I live with that? I couldn't even face my foot and that just stinks., it really does.
